22 Jul Mini-greenhouses in Argentina
Argentina Class have been hard at work Design & Technoology this half term – evaluating existing greenhouses, designing our own mini-greenhouses and then creating them ourselves. First, we used hacksaws to cut our balsa wood to make our the ‘legs’ of our greenhouse – we had to measure them carefully and then cut them out. Then, we used a glue gun to stick them together, using lollipop sticks as the pieces in between. We made a design decision whether to make our mini-greenhouse as a cuboid or a cube shape. To strengthen our structure, we put supporting bits of wood across the faces of the cube/cuboid. Finally, we cut up old book covers to act as our glass and we had created our mini-greenhouses. We were very proud of our achievement.
