CORONAVIRUS UPDATE MONDAY 16th MARCH
We have had confirmation this morning that a family member within our school community has a confirmed case of Coronavirus. The family member has not recently been on the school site. The family are currently self-isolating.
We have sought advice from Haringey’s Director of Public Health, who has informed us that we need to take no further action and that we do not need to close the school.
He also said in his response to us that, “Over the next few weeks and days there will be more staff and pupils with suspected coronavirus. They need to stay off school while unwell for 7 days. Remember this is a mild illness in children and young people.”
If you suspect that either you or a family member has the Coronavirus infection, please follow the advice from Public Health England to self-isolate for 7 days.
The symptoms of coronavirus are:
a cough
a high temperature
shortness of breath
But these symptoms do not necessarily mean you have the illness.
The symptoms are similar to other illnesses that are much more common, such as cold and flu.
Standard recommendations to prevent infection spread include regular hand washing, covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, thoroughly cooking meat and eggs. Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.
