24 Nov Black History Month
In Reception, during Black History Month, we studied the art work of Sonya Boyce. Sonya is an African Caribbean artist who was born in Islington. She has earned an OBE for her art work. She is also the very first black artist to represent Britain and will be going to an exhibition in Venice in 2021.
She likes to work using paint, chalks, pastels and use photographs. We love her pictures because they portray interesting people and are full of colour and life.
We copied them ourselves using chalks and pastels. We also used them to make jigsaw puzzles with. We also found out some information about her Caribbean heritage and talked about island life. We painted and tried some lovely Caribbean fruit.
