10 Feb Art – exploring different artists
In Art each week, as a school we are exploring the work of a different artist. This week, we learn about Shantell Martin. She is a British visual artist best known for her large scale, black-and-white drawings. She performs many of her drawings for a live audience. Born in Thamesmead, London, Martin lives and works in New York.
Shantell Martin has explored the question, ‘Who are you?’, and usually just creates work with a simple black pen. She has recorded a TED Talk entitled, ‘How drawing can set you free.’
The whole school looked at her work and then created their own black and white journeys. Here are some creations from Year 4.
