WEEKLY UPDATE FRIDAY 5TH JUNE 2020
Year 1 Return and Plans for Wider Opening
From Monday 8th June we are opening the school more widely to include children in year 1. Families of these children have been contacted regularly over the past few weeks as we have been planning for their return. Families who have indicated that they would like their children to return have received a letter this week naming the staff who will be working with these children. The letter also contained information about times that they need to drop off and pick up their children. Being prompt and punctual at the start and end of the day is essential for us to manage movement into school and social distancing of these groups of children.
Plans for extending the wider opening include provisional plans for reception children to return wc 15.6 and year 6 children to return wc 22.6; these plans are dependent on the review of the arrangements throughout next week as we begin the wider opening of school. Families of reception children who had indicated that they were unsure or had stated their child will not return will be contacted early next week to help finalise planning. Towards the end of next week, families who have said their reception child will return, will receive a letter naming the teaching team and outlining the arrangements for drop off and pick up.
Google Classrooms and Home Learning
During the period of the lockdown we have been in regular contact with our new IT suppliers about them supporting us to develop the resources for Home Learning. Throughout this week families of children in year 5, year 3 and year 2 have been contacted with log in details for Google Classrooms. Next week children in these year groups will be able to access videos of teachers teaching daily sessions to support the Home Learning; children who access learning via Google Classrooms will also be able to upload work for the teachers to see and to make a comment.
Over the coming weeks we intend to extend this provision to the other year groups. Children can still continue to access Home Learning on the school website which should include daily maths work, writing and reading activities as well as science and history or geography. Answers for responses to maths problems will also be posted the day after the daily maths work for you to check your progress.
School Video
Mrs Kennedy has been working extremely hard over the past few weeks to bring the staff team together virtually if not physically; the video link below is the product of her hard work, cajoling and encouragement. You will see some fabulous (or not) dance moves, workouts, gymnastics, football skills, loveable pets, air guitar and even some cooking. We hope you enjoy it.
